On the 13th of May 2010, the once popular club of furniture and furnishings, formed more than 10 years ago, was revived through a casual gathering held at Fiesta San Miguel, Dusit Thani Hotel.

The Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines, in its continued mission to refresh relationships and develop camaraderie among members and friends of the industry, has recently decided to bring back some of the good-old-times activities that believed to had strengthened the bond among Chamber members. All through the event, both the National Secretariat and the members have been very vocal how much they misses informal gatherings among colleagues. True enough, the Carpenters Club is about to spread the fire.

Just before the sun sets, Fiesta San Miguel is ready and perfect for a little relaxation. Comfy couches surround the place. Dimmed lights and background music set the mood. And, of course, a little booze to jazz up the night. The Secretariat, initially, occupied two sets of tables and chairs which can, approximately, accommodate 6-8 persons. Mr. Ed Victorio of San Jose Kitchen Cabinets was one of the early birds followed by Mr. Manny Padiernos of Pacific Arts and Decor, Inc. and Mr. Florante Escalante of Chemrez Technologies. The long-missed Philippine Furniture and Furnishings Festival exhibitor, Mr. Rick Navarro of Nav’s Inc., was also present. As the members and associate members come, more and more sets of tables and chairs were added.

Also present in the Carpenters Club are Ms. Joy Cancio of Cancio and Associates, Ms. Rashmi Singh, together with her husband, of Lightworks International, Mr. Tony Gomez of Home and Lifestyle Furniture, Ms. Jovi Romero of Danilyn’s Enterprises, Inc., Mr. Fritz de Lange of Renditions, Mr. Jean Paul Varela of Johansen World Group, Mr. Gerard Torres and Ms. Angie Auro of Beckers Syntema, Mr. Randy Go, Mr. Ramil Llamas and Mr. Jonathan Acabado from Philippine Abbrasives and Mr. Jaime Gerardo of Jaime Gerardo Designs. At an instant, members felt belongingness and connectivity to the group.

The Carpenters Club has, indeed, successfully re-launched. Wondering how long our table went? Long enough to be treated VIP’S.

See you next time!
